• Japan Day 3: Hilton Bayside, Tokyo & Shibuya

Hi there! I was intending to only take a 1-2 day break...and this happened. So I'm going to try and write as many posts I can and schedule them all!

Anyway, getting onto Day 3 of Japan trip! We were heading to TOKYO! So we set out bright and early to catch the shinkansen to Tokyo.
Thinking that we would starve on the train, we stocked up on ekibens - lunch boxes to eat on the train.

We bought a pork tonkatsu one, a chicken karaage, a beef one and a random mixed one. We ended up falling asleep and not eating -- so it became our lunch at the hotel. Whilst these boxes do taste good, the food was cold...so all the fried food becomes more or less soggy and the beef was a bit tough...so I suggest getting one that's not fried, and would taste good cold or hot (e.g. the mixed one).

When I was browsing for hotels in Tokyo, any decent ones during that period was so expensive...so I booked a bit further out to Disneyland! Like the price was the same as a 3-star hotel in downtown so meh, let's go for it! And boy, was it worth it~

We got upgraded from 2 double rooms, to a 4-bed family room! It can fit 6 people, I think!
But this room is very marketed to families with little children, because there were so many features in the room! Like the gigantic key there, which lights up the wall decor! Then there's a mirror that works like the one in Snow White - quite creepy for me.
Also, it's that the elevator waiting area is all decorated, so the entire level has this forest-y feel, whereas all the other levels have your typical hotel look.

We had a brilliant view too! That's actually the ocean, but because the weather was so cloudy, you can't see it.
It was too cold to go experience the outdoor pool. Will go next time!

Also overlooking a traditional Japanese house thing...I think it was a function centre
We were only spending 2, max 3 days in Tokyo, so I wasn't really planning on going to many places. Also, this trip is mainly for sightseeing and relaxing in the older and less city-like side of things. But there is seriously nothing to eat around Maihama (where Bayside and Tokyo Disneyland is), except for the restaurants in the hotel and they didn't look that great....so we headed out to Shibuya~

Although the hotel is quite a bit from the train station, all the hotels around Disneyland provide free shuttles throughout the day (around once every 10-20 minutes) which take you to and fro the station.

We browsed through Shibuya 109, and the nearby stores. To me, the city isn't that appealing - still don't really see the appeal of spending a whole holiday in the city. But one thing was that we found really really delicious ramen - and guess what? I have no photo because I was starving.
It was so so so so good that I can't eat ramen back in Australia anymore - even the famous O-san can't beat it. Check it out here on Yelp.

After stuffing myself with ramen, and a little shopping at Uniqlo and the pharmacy, we headed back to the ocean view for a good night's sleep!

So Day 3 was rather uneventful I guess. More to come anyway~
