We went up to Charlie & Co. Burgers for lunch....and we ordered.....
The Classic Charlie Burger ($14) used to be called the Wagyu & Co. Burger. It consists of a wagyu patty, with beetroot, tomato, pickles and a slice of cheese in between a buttered sesame burger. I originally had really high expectations for Charlie & Co. as there was so much hype about it being a top-grade burger shop...However, I was slightly disappointed by it...Although the patty and the burger was ginormous in size (shared the burger with my friend), taste wise it was pretty average....So in general I think there's too much hype for it and slightly overpriced....$14 is the cheapest I think.
In the back ground you can also see the Parmesan and Truffle Fries ($8). I didn't get to take an individual photo of it so yeah....Again I think it's a tad overpriced and over-hyped. I've tried black truffle fries from other shops before and really liked it, so I was slightly excited to see how Charlie did their truffle fries. Their fries looked pretty average to me, just normal fries with slices of Parmesan on top. However, taste-wise it was soooo salty...maybe it was just me, but I died from the salty taste. And there was a lack of truffle taste...
We also ordered a South American Burger ($14) - wagyu patty with aged cheddar, caramalised onions, smoked chilli mayonnaise and Argentinean chimichurri sauce...whatever that is...
I didn't get to taste the burger, but there were now wows of amazement from my friends, so I'm going to assume that it was pretty average too....
Overall, I've come to the conclusion that Charlie & Co. is overrated....like most other places within Pitt St Mall...However, if you are still eager to join the bandwagon, get prepared to meet the massive waves of office men and ladies. Finding a seat in the food court may be hard, but Charlie & Co. has special seating, and you can generally get a seat after a short wait. The paging system also works pretty efficiently, with wait time being under 5 minutes. So if you want to, go and try it out and leave a comment below! Maybe I'm just picky with food....
