• Tokyo: Shake Shack

This was the one place that my sister was adamant that we go to in the two weeks. Having been before, I warned them of super long lines. From memory, I waited in a queue for 45 minutes to order.
I expected horrible queues as we were there exactly at lunchtime. However, to my biggest surprise, there was no line at all - straight to the counter. I think it's mainly because they opened up a whole bunch of stores in Tokyo, which is good in a sense.
The biggest problem with this store is not queuing up to order, but to find a seat afterwards. You essentially have to lock down a table and awkwardly stand around them until they finish.
Here's what we ordered! We didn't want to get drinks at first because the only hot drink they had was hot chocolate and it was extremely cold. But they had Christmas drinks, limited edition Christmas drinks - they immediately drew me in.

From L-R, we got a Lemonade (¥380), Christmas Cookie Shake (¥740) and a Chocolate Mint Shake (¥740). Lemonade was blood orange flavour, which was a refreshing change from the usual. Both the limited edition shakes were rather disappointing. The Cookie Shake tasted like regular milk but slightly sweeter. Despite that, the whipped cream on top with the colour sugar crystals were really good together. I could just eat a cup of whipped cream and sugar. The chocolate mint one tastes exactly like the Tim Tam Blended Iced Chocolate from Gloria Jeans (which is like half the price!).

We chose to have burgers over hotdogs so we got (from clockwise from top-left) the Shack Burger (¥680), the Shroom Burger (¥930), the Shack Stack (¥1,230) and the Double Shack Burger (¥980). The beef burger is really good - you really need to try it if you haven't had Shake Shack before. But the biggest surprise of them all was the mushroom burger. I've never seen a deep fried mushroom that was so juicy! It was quite messy to eat though tbh. The Shack Stack, which is a burger with both beef and mushroom had a really good contrast between the crunchiness of the deep fried mushroom and the softness of the beef.

Chips are good but nothing special.

Whilst the burgers are good, I'm still a bit undecided as to whether they are worth that price, especially when the exchange rate isn't that great. For a fast food chain, the price is definitely high, but I'm still not 100% assured that quality is deserving of the price tag.
